The Centro de Investigación en Matemáticas A.C. (CIMAT), the Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées (CIMPA) and the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) are organizing a School “Moduli of Curves” to be held from 22th February till 4th March, 2016 in CIMAT, Guanajuato, Mexico.

This school is an introduction to subjects of current interest related to moduli, a fundamental aspect of algebraic geometry, with emphasis on moduli of curves. The purpose of this school is to introduce young mathematicians to the foundations of the theory, some of its major developments and tools used for its study and also a few glimpses on some more advanced topics. Each course will start with classical material and will take the audience to the frontier of research in the subject. Considering the wide range of topics to be covered, the School will be directed at students and researchers in mathematics and physics interested in the subject.

In the first week will be four one-hour courses and in the second week five courses of one-hour. There will be also discussions sessions and 30 minute talks by request, (however, due to the tight schedule maybe will be impossible to arrange a slot for everyone that request and will be move to the poster session).

The “School on Moduli of curves” is open to students and scientists from all countries. Due to the limited budget there are limited funds for living expenses available for Mexicans and young participants from developing countries. There will not be grants for travel expenses, except for those participants from Latinoamerica which will have to apply directly to Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées (CIMPA) or Unión Matemática de America Latina y el Caribe (UMALCA)

All participants from Mexico will have to fill the Registration Form in this web page.

All participants not from Mexico will have to fill the Registration Form in the web page of CIMPA filling out a form that you can browse or Application procedure

Deadline for registration: October 25, 2015

Registration fees are collected by CIMPA from participants coming from other countries than Mexico. Participants from developing countries can require to be exempted – their demand will be automatically accepted. Other exemption requirements will be considered case by case. Participants from Mexico do not pay any registration fee. The accommodation for the participants with grant from CIMPA, ICTP or the Organization of the School will be in the Guest House of CIMAT (CIMATEL) that is in a walking distance of CIMAT.
